Chemical Batch Process

This project was the complete design and project management of the electrical services, control systems and software for a new batch manufacturing process. The control system was centred around a Mitsubishi PLC communicating with sensors, actuators and drives on Profibus PA and DP.

The plant included a number of pumps, mixing tanks and a pressurised reactor together with over 20+ analogue sensors for pressure, temperature, pH, flow and level. All the actuators for the 30+ valves were controlled through the DP bus. The area around the reactor was classed as a Zone 1 hazardous area requiring specialised design and installation in that area. The project was successfully commissioned within the time scale and budget.
